Package content
The package contents:
- GPS tracker
- 4-pin harness (T8808A model)
- Sponge double-side adhesive tape
- Power supply extension line
Also as an option, manufacturer offers engine block relay for T8808A model.
Location and tracking
T8808A is embedded with GPS and doesn’t have support of GLONASS and alternative systems. It neither supports Assisted GPS technology. As the back-up, when no satellites signals are available, it uses Cell ID location (also known as LBS-tracking).
Mobile networks
With Quad-band GSM 2G module T8808A can be operated all over the world.
Power supply
With a voltage range 6-36V, it is possible to install T8808 both on cars and vans.
T8808 also features a built-in rechargeable backup battery. When fully charged it ensures about 2-3 hours of device operation (in normal conditions). When external power is cut off, the tracker sends location to server.
To switch the tracker OFF you need to remove the SIM card, after that in 5-10 seconds the device will switch off.
Local and remote management
T8808 tracker can be fully controlled over GPRS. There is also a wide list of SMS commands in a human-friendly format, on which device always replies back. It supports remote APN settings configuration by SMS.
LED Indication
T8808 has two LEDs:
- Red LED indicates GSM/GPRS mode
- Blue LED indicates GPS reception
The LEDs light goes out automatically in five minutes after the device is switched on.
Additional notes
The “ACC” wire of T8808 must be correctly connected. According to it, the device determines that vehicle is in use, switches GPS module to active mode and reports about its position to tracking server.
If there is no “ACC” signal, GPS module goes off and device does not send GPS coordinates. However, Cell ID information is updated regardless the “ACC” status.
There is also a “lifehack” which can be used for testing purposes or during the installation process: if you’re shaking the device within 60-70 seconds, GPS module will be enabled by accelerometer activity (regardless the “ACC” state) and device will update its location.
